Our Beliefs

1. All Have Sinned:

We believe the Scriptures teach that all have sinned and need redemption (freedom from bondage). We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the source of our salvation and all must accept Him through faith. Romans 3:23

2. Consequences of Sin:

We believe that sin is anything that is contrary to the law or will of God. When we do what God has forbidden, and when we do not do what He commands, we sin. There are consequences for both. Sin separates us from God and puts us in bondage. Romans 6:23

3. Salvation Through Grace & Atonement:

We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionary sacrifice. For all who believe on Christ, their sins are forgiven and they are saved from eternal death. We believe that the salvation of sinners is the gift of God’s grace, through the blood of Jesus Christ and faith in His finished work at Calvary. By Christ’s personal obedience and His death, He made full atonement for our sins. Having risen from the dead, He ascended into heaven and is now seated on the right hand of God. Ephesians 2: 8-9; Hebrews 9:28

4. One God – Revealed as Father, Son & Holy Spirit:

We believe that there is one and only one living and true God, an intelligent, eternal, spiritual and personal Being, infinite in holiness; Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer and Ruler of all things. We owe God the highest love, reverence, and obedience. He is revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with unique yet equal personal attributes, executing distinct yet harmonious roles in the great work of redemption. Genesis 1:1, 26; Isaiah 45:5; John 1:1, 14, 10:30, 14: 16-17, 26

5. Adoption into the Family of God:

We believe that adoption is a gracious act, by which the Father, for the sake of Christ, accepts believers, by a new and spiritual birth, into the family of God. By adoption, the children of God are entitled to all the rights, privileges, and promises of children and heirs of God. John 1:12; Romans 8: 14-18

6. Sanctification of Believers:

We believe that sanctification is the process by which God sets us apart for a holy use. Sanctification is a progressive work in our hearts that is begun when we accept Christ as our Savior and proceeds as the Holy Spirit makes us more like Jesus in all that we do, think and desire. II Corinthians 5:17

7. Endurance & Eternal Salvation:

We believe that those who are born of the Spirit are saved forever from eternal death. The believer’s attachment to Christ is sure and lasting, distinguishing it from superficial relationships. Although the believer may, through temptation, fall into sin for a time, thus grieving the Holy Spirit, with confession and repentance, the believer is renewed through faith by the power of God. John 10: 27-30; Romans 8:38-39.

8. Christ’s Return:

We believe that the return of Jesus Christ will be visible and personal. When He returns, Christ will take believers with Him back to heaven. This is the rapture of the church. It is the duty of all believers to be in readiness for His coming, by living for Christ and telling others about Him, to make known to all the reality and power of our hope. I Thessalonians 4: 13-18

9. Judgment:

We believe that the end of the world is approaching; that at the last day, Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave for the final retribution, that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be judged to endless sorrow, and the righteous to endless joy; and this judgment will fix forever the final state of man in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness. Revelation 20:11-12, 22:12

10. Baptism:

We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in Christ, in the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost, to publicly declare our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. The water represents the grave so that immersion in the water symbolizes our death to sin and then as we come up, our resurrection to a new life in Christ. Matthew 28:19; Romans 6: 3-5 (At Open Door, Baptism is a prerequisite to church membership and to taking the Lord’s Supper.)

11. Communion:

We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a provision of bread and wine, as symbols of Christ’s body and blood, taken by the members of the church, in remembrance of the suffering and death of our Lord. At communion, we show our faith and participation in the merits of Christ’s sacrifice, and our hope of eternal life through His resurrection from the dead. Its observance is to be proceeded by faithful self- examination. I Corinthians 11: 23-30

12. Stewardship:

We believe that God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual. All that we have, are and hope to be, is owed to God. We are therefore under loving obligation to serve Him with our time, talents, and material possessions, and to recognize that all these are entrusted to us to use for the glory of God and to help others. Therefore, Christians should cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionately and liberally contribute financial and other resources to advance God’s kingdom on earth. Psalms 24:1; Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10; Matthew 22: 37-39; Luke 6:38

13. Evangelism:

We believe it is the duty of every Christian and every church of Christ to constantly seek to win the lost to Christ by personal effort and all other methods sanctioned by the gospel of Christ. We believe that the gospel should be extended to the ends of the earth, as is expressly commanded in the teachings of Christ. Matthew 28: 19-20; Acts 8:27-39

14. The Bible: God’s Holy Word:

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, and that it was given to
Holy men of God by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. It has no errors. It is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction that has God for its author, salvation for its end and truth for its matter. It is useful and of great value in teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness. Psalm 119; II Timothy 3: 16-17; II Peter 1:21

15. Prayer:

We believe that prayer is communication between God and His people. It is a process whereby we honestly speak and listen to God through His spoken and written Word. Matthew 7:7-8, 11; John 10:5-10, 14:13-14; Ephesians 6:18
